TECHNOLOGY SUMMIT & TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM 2006, New Delhi, 6-7 November 2006At the 11th ASEAN Summit on 13 December 2005, the Prime Minister of India invited ASEAN to be the partner for the 12th Technology Summit & Technology Platform (TSTP) 2006. The invitation was well received by ASEAN leaders. The Summit would provide an interface for governments, R & D institutions and industries of ASEAN and India. The Summit will also provide a window to the new ideas and partnerships in technology area to:
- Promote Joint Ventures
- Promote Technology Tie-Ups
- Investment to and from Partner Countries
The TSTP 2006, organised by Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Committee on Science and Technology (COST), will focus on the areas namely: Biotechnology; Information and Communication Technology (ICT); Advance Materials & Welding Technology; Space Science & Technology; as well as Food and Marine Technology.
The event has several objectives, as follows:
- An insight to technology needs and technology strength of India and ASEAN Countries;
- Identification of Stakeholders from Industry, Institutes & Government, for their technology needs and offers and providing an interface between Research and Development (R & D) Bodies, Academic Institutions, Industry and Government;
- Platform for crystallising of prospective technology tie-ups by the shareholders in the Summit & Exhibition & discuss technology related issues with experts and leaders.
- Meeting ground for technology developers, innovators, scientists, academicians, SMEs and large companies including MNCs;
- A forum for networking and making new business contacts and market openings.
The TSTP 2006 will make benefits to the following entities:
- R & D organisations – with joint technology projects;
- Industry – with more understanding the issues in the ASEAN region, application of technology and hence larger trade;
- Society – with better technological solutions targeted at local issues;
- Government – with increase of bilateral trade and also better technological solutions for the society at large, Governments stand to get benefit by the project.
