As a follow up to the 1st ASEAN-China Bioinformatics Workshop held in Beijing in 2004, the ASEAN Sub-Committee on Biotechnology (SCB) will convene the 2nd ASEAN-China International Bioinformatics Workshop on 17-18 April 2008 at the National University of Singapore. The Workshop will be held back-to-back with the 3rd East Asia Bioinformation Network Meeting to be held on 18 April 2008. The latter is to be co-organised by SCB and the Korean (KOBIC).

The goal of the 2nd Workshop is to promote more collaboration in research and education in informatics and computational biology among ASEAN and China. Two thematic issues of (i) Bioinformatics in Tradition Medicine and (i) Bioinformatics in Infectious Disease will be addressed in the Workshop.

To be led by international experts, around 20 bioinformatics experts and policy makers from ASEAN countries and 10 from China are expected to participate in and contributed to the Workshop.
